We know difficult situations like this arise. Whatever happens, we will continue with the testing process to the extent that we can. If it is no longer feasible to continue with the test, we will contact you to discuss that best resolution.
NIPT testing can be performed in as early as 7 weeks. There is no harm to the mother or fetus. A simple blood draw is taken from the mother along with a buccal swab of the alleged father. You also have the option of finding out the baby's gender with the test as well at no additional cost.
At our partner's laboratory, they are able to separate fetal DNA from the mother’s DNA to create a DNA profile for the fetus (cells from the developing fetus float freely in the bloodstream of the pregnant mother); these fetal cells can be detected as early as the 7th week of pregnancy. With their exclusive technology that has been published in a leading medical journal, they can develop a DNA profile of the fetal cells and compare the profile to the DNA profile of the alleged father.
Most DNA tests (Legal and Non-Legal) are completed and results are ready within week or less from the time the laboratory receives the samples. Certain tests can take longer, express testing can be offered for most tests for an additional cost.
There are two ways that results can be given. The first is you may directly pick up your test results after you have received notification that they are ready. The second is you may have your results directly mailed to you.
*If you would like an copy of your results emailed to you, there will be an email waiver form that must be filled out understanding and assuming all risks associated with email deliveries and confidentiality.
